Prescription and over-the-counter drugs policy

Prescription medicines or products containing prescription-strength medication are not allowed for sale on Ventio unless sold by authorized pharmacies following applicable laws. Over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, herbal products, vitamins, and veterinary medicines must adhere to specific listing guidelines to meet health and safety standards regulated within Cyprus and the EU.

What is the policy?

• Prescription drugs or products containing prescription-strength medication are prohibited from being sold by non-authorized sellers.
• Supplements identified as tainted or unsafe by recognized regulatory databases (e.g., EU or Cyprus authorities) are prohibited.
• Over-the-counter medicines containing non-prescription strength drugs must:
• Clearly state the active ingredients and their concentrations.
• Be accompanied by clear expiration dates prior to reaching the buyer.
• Be in new, unused condition, in original, unopened, and undamaged packaging.
• All labelling and product information must be provided in English and Greek, respecting local language requirements.
• Listings for herbal, holistic, or drug-like remedies cannot make health claims not approved by the

European Medicines Agency (EMA) or Cyprus Ministry of Health and must not be compared to prescription drugs.

• Vitamins and supplements must comply with the same packaging, expiration, and labelling standards.
• Injectable substances, including injectable vitamins, regardless of OTC status, are not allowed.
• Dental products with hydrogen peroxide over 0.1% (Cyprus and EU limit) are prohibited.
• Veterinary medicines classified as General Sales List (GSL) or OTC by Cyprus veterinary authorities or the

European Medicines Agency may be sold only if they:

• Have marketing authorization for sale within Cyprus and the EU.
• Do not require a prescription.
• Are not repackaged OTC medications.
• Do not include certain restricted products, such as specific heartworm medicines unless authorized.

Activity on Ventio must follow this policy, the Ventio User Agreement, and all applicable Cyprus and EU laws. Non-compliance may result in listing removal, warnings, account restrictions, or suspension.

Why does Ventio have this policy?

This policy exists to protect the safety of buyers by ensuring that drug sales follow strict health regulations established by Cyprus health authorities (Ministry of Health and Gesy), the European Medicines Agency, and other relevant bodies. It helps prevent the distribution of unauthorized, unsafe, or counterfeit medicines and complies with legal frameworks in Cyprus and the wider EU.
