Fertilizer and pesticides policy

You can list pesticide products on Ventio only if your listings comply with all applicable Cyprus and EU laws governing plant protection and biocidal products. This policy provides guidance on how to represent these items properly, preventing illicit trade and protecting public health and the environment.

What is the policy?

  • Restricted listings

You may not list any pesticide product that is:

  • Unregistered, misbranded, or classified as “restricted-use” under Cyprus’s Plant Protection Products

Law (N. 141(I)/2011) and the EU’s Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009.

  • Suspended, cancelled, or banned by the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment or the European Commission.
  • Originating from outside the European Union.
  • Sold in unbranded form or repackaged into non-original or previously opened packaging (including samples).
  • Registration requirements

Every listing for a pesticide product must clearly display:

  • Plant protection products: the Cyprus registration number assigned under Law N. 141(I)/2011.
  • Biocidal products (e.g. household or industrial disinfectants, insecticides): the EU or national authorisation number required by Regulation (EU) No 528/2012
  • Examples of products requiring registration
  • Agricultural herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, rodenticides
  • Veterinary or domestic flea & tick treatments
  • Pool and spa biocides (e.g. chlorine, bromine, algaecides) — only by pre-approved sellers
  • Water-treatment and purification chemicals
  • Sanitizers, disinfectants, and professional cleaning agents
  • Prohibited items
  • Banned active substances (e.g. diazinon, chlorpyrifos) omitted from the EU positive list.
  • “Natural” or “homeopathic” pesticides not registered under Cyprus or EU law.
  • Rodenticides, algaecides, or sanitizers that lack proper national or EU approval.
  • Products claiming to disinfect human skin and environmental surfaces with a single authorisation.
  • Defense sprays or repellents marketed for dual human-and-animal use without separate approvals.
  • Professional responsibility

Sellers of professional-use pesticide products must hold the appropriate licence under the Pesticides (Selling, Producing and Storing) Regulations of 2003 Business In Cyprus and comply with the Rational Use of Pesticides Regulations of 2012. Buyers must also be eligible under Cyprus law to purchase such products. Activity on Ventio must follow this policy, the Ventio User Agreement, and all applicable Cyprus and EU laws. Non-compliance may result in listing removal, warnings, account restrictions, or suspension.
