Electronic equipment policy

You can list electronic equipment on Ventio only if your items comply with all applicable Cyprus and EU laws on electronic communications, energy efficiency, privacy, and consumer protection. Most devices used to transmit or receive signals, perform covert surveillance, or claim to reduce electricity consumption are prohibited. Those we allow must meet our policy and the relevant legal requirements.

What is the policy?

  • Prohibited equipment
  • Appliances that do not meet EU ecodesign or energy-labelling requirements
  • Cameras or recording devices that state or imply covert recording of individuals without consent
  • “Hidden” cameras embedded in everyday objects (e.g. clocks, toothbrush holders, toys)
  • CB amplifiers and radio equipment operating on both CB and amateur (HAM) bands without proper authorisation
  • Electricity- or energy-saving gadgets that falsely claim to reduce consumption
  • Radio-signal jamming devices of any kind (cell-phone, GPS, radar, etc.)
  • Devices not bearing the required CE marking under the Radio Equipment Directive
  • Light bulbs that fail to meet EU energy-efficiency standards
  • Traffic-signal control or interference devices
  • Allowed equipment
  • Any electrical or electronic item that fully complies with the technical and safety standards below and is marketed transparently
  • Regulatory compliance
  • EU Ecodesign Directive (2009/125/EC): All energy-related products must meet the framework for ecodesign requirements
  • EU Energy Labelling Regulation (2017/1369): Household appliances, including light bulbs, must carry correct energy-efficiency labels
  • Radio Equipment Directive (2014/53/EU): Radio-transmitting and receiving devices must bear CE marking and meet essential technical requirements; jammers are expressly forbidden
  • GDPR (2016/679) and Cyprus Personal Data Protection Law (125(I)/2018): Any device capable of recording personal data must respect data-protection and privacy rules
  • Unfair Commercial Practices Directive (2005/29/EC): Claims about energy savings or other performance must not be misleading
  • Electronic Communications Regulation Law of 2022 (Cyprus): All transmitters, receivers, and jamming devices require authorisation or are prohibited; enforced by the Office of the Commissioner of

Electronic Communications and Postal Regulation Activity on Ventio must follow this policy, the Ventio User Agreement, and all applicable Cyprus and EU laws, and must respect third-party rights. Violations may result in listing removal, warnings, account restrictions, or suspension.
