Jewelry policy

Jewelry can be an important purchase for many buyers, so it’s critical to describe items clearly and list them correctly to help buyers find exactly what they want and be happy with the item they receive. This policy covers how to list jewelry on Ventio—how to describe metals and gems, meet hallmarking and sourcing requirements, and deliver a great buying experience.

What is the policy?

Rules for metals

  • If your item is made from plated, flashed, or filled metals, you must clearly state this in the title, item specifics, and description (e.g. “gold-plated silver,” “silver-filled brass”).
  • Hallmarking under Cyprus Law N. 52(I)/2009 (as amended) and the Vienna Convention is required on all fine-metal items (solid or plated):
  • Gold: 9 K (.375), 14 K (.585), 18 K (.750), 22 K (.916), 24 K (.999)
  • Silver: Sterling (.925), Fine Silver (.999)
  • Platinum: Pt 850 (.850), Pt 900 (.900), Pt 950 (.950)

Rules for gemstones Natural gems

  • You may include the gemstone name in the title and item specifics only if it is genuinely natural and has not been treated or enhanced.

Treated gems If listing a natural gemstone that has been treated (e.g. heat, dye, irradiation), you must:

  • Specify “treated” in the title.
  • Select the treatment type in item specifics.
  • In the description, disclose:

1. Treatment method. 2. That the effect is not permanent and may diminish over time. 3. That treatment significantly affects the gemstone’s value. 4. Any special care required to retain the enhancement. Lab-created gems

  • Specify “lab-created” immediately before the gemstone name in the title (e.g. “lab-created diamond”). Do not use terms like “man-made.”
  • Select “lab-created” in item specifics.
  • You may only include the natural gem name if the lab gem’s mineral composition is identical to its natural counterpart.

Simulated gems

  • Include the material name (e.g. “cubic zirconia”) in the title.
  • State “simulated” in item specifics and description.
  • If you reference the natural gem name, prepend “simulated” (e.g. “simulated sapphire”) in title, specifics, and description.

Unknown gem type, treatment or grade

  • If you don’t know whether a gemstone is natural, treated, lab-created, or simulated—or its grade—you should list it in Fashion Jewelry and avoid unverified claims. Consider third-party certification before listing.

Other rules for diamonds

  • A diamond is pure carbon crystal (hardness 10, specific gravity 3.52, refractive index 2.42). If your stone does not meet this definition, do not list it as a “diamond.” State its true material (e.g. moissanite, cubic zirconia, glass).
  • Conflict-free sourcing:
  • All rough diamonds must comply with the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) and be accompanied by a valid certificate.
  • Diamonds mined, cut, polished, or processed in Russia—or by a Russian entity—are prohibited. See

Ventio’s Embargoed Goods policy.

  • Any gemstones or metals from conflict zones or linked to human-rights abuses are banned.
