Emissions control defeat devices policy

What is the policy?

• Prohibited items

Any product designed to bypass, defeat, or render inoperative a vehicle’s emission-control system, including but not limited to:

• Tuners, services, software, or devices that alter engine or exhaust performance on cars, trucks, or off-road vehicles
• Aftermarket standalone (non-OEM) electronic control units (ECUs), including full EFI conversion kits
• “Race only” or “off-road only” powertrain or exhaust components
• Fuel-management or auto start/stop disabler modules
• Blocking plates for catalytic converters, DPF, SCR or DEF systems
• Crankcase ventilation bypass kits or plugs
• Devices that remove or disable factory catalytic converters or diesel particulate filters
• Exhaust flame kits, servo eliminators, or oxygen-sensor bypass devices
• Complete vehicles with tampered or deleted emission systems
• CARB-compliant performance tuners (only allowed if sold by a CARB-licensed seller in jurisdictions that recognise CARB)

Activity on Ventio must follow this policy, the Ventio User Agreement, and all applicable Cyprus and EU laws, and must respect third-party rights. Violations may result in listing removal, warnings, account restrictions, or suspension.

Why does Ventio have this policy?

This policy enforces compliance with emissions and type-approval regulations to protect air quality, road safety, and consumer trust. By banning defeat-device products, Ventio helps uphold:

• EU Regulation (EC) No 715/2007 on type approval of vehicles with respect to emissions, which prohibits defeat devices in Article 5.
• Directive 2007/46/EC establishing a framework for vehicle approval, under which unapproved parts are not permitted.
• Directive 2014/45/EU on periodic roadworthiness tests, ensuring emission-control systems remain intact over a vehicle’s life.

It also aligns with national regulations under the Road Traffic Law (Cap. 96) and related implementing instruments, ensuring a safe, legal, and environmentally responsible marketplace for all Ventio users.
