Art policy

You can list and sell artwork created by you or by others on Ventio, provided that neither the listing nor the artwork infringes any copyrights, design rights, trademark rights, or other intellectual property rights under applicable Cyprus and EU laws. This policy offers guidance on properly representing artwork to maintain authenticity and respect rights.

What is the policy?

• Listings must include all available evidence of authenticity relevant to the artwork. Examples include, but are not limited to:
• Original Certificate of Authenticity (COA)
• Invoices or receipts from previous sales or purchases
• Exhibition labels or catalogs
• The artist’s catalogue raisonné
• Expert appraisals
• Auction house sale catalogs
• Archive photographs or films
• Any claims of authenticity made in the listing must be upheld; sellers may not disclaim responsibility for authenticity claims and must provide any stated evidence of authenticity to the buyer upon purchase.
• Reproductions of artworks may be sold only if created with the explicit authorization of the intellectual property rights owner. Unauthorized reproductions that violate copyrights, design rights, trademarks, or other rights are prohibited. Examples of authorized reproductions include:
• Posters
• Replica paintings — but only if the original work is no longer protected by intellectual property rights, and the listing clearly states in both the title and description that the item is a replica.
• Editioned artworks such as prints, sculptures, or vinyl toys released under license or authorization.
• The artist’s name may be used in listings only when the artwork was actually created by that artist or is a legitimate reproduction of the artist’s work. Use of an artist’s name for works created “in the style of” or as imitations without authorization is prohibited.
• If the artwork has been altered, repaired, or undergone conservation treatments, sellers must disclose full details of such work in the listing description.
• Sellers must comply with all applicable Cyprus intellectual property laws, such as the Protection of

Intellectual Property Law (L.59(I)/2000 and amendments), and EU Directive 2001/29/EC on the harmonization of copyright and related rights in the information society, as well as trademark and design regulations.

• Always collect and retain documentation supporting artwork authenticity before listing.
• Clearly describe the provenance and any reproduction authorization in your listing.
• Avoid using artist names or trademarks unless you have confirmed rights to do so.
